Four young talents have been awarded scholarships by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund for the year 2010 – 2011.
This year’s Scholarship Awarding Ceremony was held on 27 July 2010 at the Youth Square in Chai Wan, Hong Kong. The event was attended by Miss Salina Yan, JP, Deputy Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Frank LEE, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the HKJCMDF, Board Members, Mr Ivan Chu and Mr Frankie Wu, Dr Chan Hing-yan, Chairman of Audition Panel (Music) 2010 – 2011, Ms Chu Kit, Panel Member (Dance), and Ms Imelda Chan, Charities Manager of the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
The awards, worth about $2.06 million in total, have been given to Miss LEE Wai-ching Vivian, Mr POON Hon-wai, Miss TAM Lok-him Phoebe and Miss CHAN Kei-king Eve. Miss Lee and Mr Poon will respectively pursue study in bassoon performance and clarinet performance in the United Kingdom. Miss Tam and Miss Chan will respectively undertake programme in voice performance and choreography in the United States. All of their programmes are of two-year duration.
The four scholarship recipients gratefully acknowledged the funding support from the HKJCMDF and undertook to make the best of the opportunity of pursuing advance programmes in music or dance overseas. They will contribute to the development of arts in Hong Kong upon completion of their courses.
