Five young talents in music or dance received Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund (HKJCMDF) Scholarships at the Scholarship Awarding Ceremony 2014-2015 held on 4 July 2014.

The scholarships, totalling about $2.16 million, will support the awardees to pursue further education abroad in the fields of music or dance, enabling them to contribute to the development of arts in Hong Kong upon completion of their studies....read more

The five young talents, namely Mr CHAN Ting-yuen, Mr CHENG Chi-yuen, Mr Angus LEE , Miss Lilly WU and Miss YIU Wing-chi, stood out among many applicants. They shared their thoughts during the awarding ceremony, gratefully acknowledged the funding support from the HKJCMDF and undertook to make the best of the opportunity to pursue further studies in music or dance overseas.

The three music scholarship awardees, bassoonist Mr CHAN Ting-yuen, oboist Mr CHENG Chi-yuen and flutist Mr Angus LEE, are graduates of the Bachelor of Music programme at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts (HKAPA). With the music scholarships, Mr Chan, Mr Cheng and Mr Lee will be going to Germany, France and the United Kingdom respectively to further their training in music performance.

As for the two dance scholarship awardees, Miss Lilly WU , a graduate of the Bachelor of Dance programme at the HKAPA, will be going to pursue her master study in dance movement psychotherapy in the United Kingdom whereas Miss YIU Wing-chi, currently a freelance dancer, will undertake master study in musical theater in the United Kingdom.

Joining the ceremony were the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Fund, Dr PANG King-chee, MH; representative of the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) Mr Douglas SO; the Principal Assistant Secretary for Home Affairs, Miss WONG Yuet-wah; members of the Board of Trustees of the Fund; the Chairman and member of the music audition panel of the scholarship, Professor CHAN Hing-yan and Professor Johnny M POON; and the Chairman and member of the dance audition panel, Mr Thomas BROWN and Mr YANG Yuntao.
